Blessed with pure water and rich harvests, Tokachi is just the right place to brew beer. Tokachi Beer is made from select local ingredients and using techniques learned in Germany.
The Tokachi Beer brewery and restaurant opened in the center of Obihiro in 1997. The brewers, who have obtained "Master Evaluator," the highest certificate awarded by the Japan Craft Beer Association, are working hard to create many types of delicious beer. One of those beers, Tokachi Lager, received the 2004 Gold Award, the highest award in the Japan Beer Cup sponsored by the Japan Craft Beer Association.
Beer is not the only popular item at Tokachi Beer. The restaurant has over 90 different menu items that are made using local ingredients. Among the most popular ones are pizzas baked in a stone oven.
