FM-JAGA, which was named after the jaga-imo ("potato" in Japanese), started broadcasting in December 1994. It broadcasts music and local information to the residents of the Obihiro Metropolitan Area (Obihiro, Otofuke, Makubetsu and Memuro). In a survey conducted by NTT Telemart, FM-JAGA was ranked as the most popular of all the radio stations in the Obihiro area, for both male and female listeners.
FM-JAGA is also regarded as an effective way to advertise. Its live shows in conjunction with public events are popular with businesses. The programs of FM-JAGA focus on the lifestyles of local people and reflect their musical tastes. They also provide information on various aspects of their lives including families, friends, jobs and hometowns. FM-JAGA's ultimate goal is, in cooperation with its listeners, to create a new cultural scene. |
